agyness overload

Sick of Agyness? Too bad. i-D is so infatuated with the Agz that the magazine is devoting an entire May 08 issue to her, aptly called "The Agyness Deyn Issue." And when I mean an entire issue, I mean that practically every article and editorial features her, teeming with all the praise and glory that i-D could slather on. I know she is popular what with her androgyny and her past employment as a fish and chips gal, but come on, an icon? Oh girlfriend, please. The word "icon" is thrown around so incessantly that the word is rendered meaningless by now.

  2. I know what you mean, she is a great model, but icon? i dont think so, what exactly is iconic about her? she has a fare few more years to prove before she can be considered to be such a thing.
for starters not very many people know who she is outside the fashion world and also her cloths, as kooky as they are, are not starting any trends. sorry to rant but come on!!!

  3. I think she is a great model, but she doesnt deserve a WHOLE episode.

  5. this seems very silly to me. An entire issue of i-D about Deyn, talk about modesty
you're right about icon being thrown around!
it's getting to the point where it's a dirty trendy word
and to think we once reserved this word for the great greats!
not that deyn isn't great, just not an icon, not yet anyway

  6. here here!

Tee, every single word in this post summed up how I felt.

and FIVE covers? isn't that just a sign of bad editing?

  7. thank you! i very much agree, i just don't understand... i don't see how she appeals to masses and i don't see how she appeals to the anti-masses or i-D readers because she's like any other brick lane girl. she doesn't intrigue me...simple as...

  8. Agreed. I love Agyness, but there should be a certain amount of passed time, and if you're still relevant and inspiring- than you can call yourself an icon.

  9. Ugh, yes I am sick of her. I personally don't like her look, but whatever. I agree, the word 'icon' means nothing now. It's a shame.

  12. i'm usually NOT a fan of ms. dyen but then she pulls off a look like this and... oh man... makes me want to LOVE her

  13. Agreed and very glad you said it. She's a model who has a different look than a lot of the girls around at the moment, but we'll see how iconic she in a few years time. A whole issue dedicated to her is excessive.

  14. I have FINALLY bought this just to see what you were talking about. and your right- it IS dedicated to her to the point where it just gets annoying.

  17. I think the outfit during SS08 fashion week- you know that infamous one with the cartoon boy who's name I do not know?- might just have made her iconicly crazy.

That's not to say she isn't a good model because by God, she can pose (think The Nominees video). I'm just not a fan of her personal style and she doesn't deserve to be raised to status of icon. No way comparable to Kate Moss!

  18. yeurk, too much agyness.
i liked her for 2.5 seconds, because she had nice hair & an amzing bike.
    she's just too much now.

  19. i think agyness is great, but when i found out agyness deyn isn't her real name ( in fact she's called laura hollins ) i found her a lot less interesting. Though she's one of the only models who still look pretty when they're smiling.. in my opininion.

i sooooo love your header, how did you do it?

  20. thanks god she's pretty, because if she wasn't i'd be sick of her

  21. Oh she needs to go away now. I'd say I was over her but I can't say I was ever under her. Added you to my blog roll, love the blog!

  23. OMG...i guess her so called beauty is a chemical creation of fashion magazines. She's cute and pretty, but ICON is another thing....

  24. I couldnt agree more. She's totally overrated.

  25. totally agree. I am really sick of her!!!!

  26. kate moss deserves to be an icon, but agyness? maybe not. practically all the magazines out there have devoted a few pages on her, but to actually devote an entire issue on agyness is a tad too much. next model please!
